Apple cider, maple syrup, and a cinnamon-sugar rim give the classic margarita a cozy fall makeover. Choose mezcal for a smoky twist or silver tequila for a brighter sip, then finish your glass with SALTOPIA CRACKLIN' HEIGHTS Cinnamon Sugar. No extra flaky salt needed, just a sweet, spiced rim made for autumn evenings with friends.
Makes: 1 cocktail
Ingredients
- SALTOPIA CRACKLIN' HEIGHTS Cinnamon Sugar, for the rim
- 2 ounces mezcal or silver tequila
- 1/2 ounce orange liqueur
- 4 ounces (1/2 cup) apple cider
- Juice from 1/2 a lime, plus a lime wedge for the rim
- 1–2 teaspoons maple syrup, adjusted to taste
- Ice
- Apple slices and a cinnamon stick, for serving
- A fresh rosemary sprig, optional, for garnish
Directions
- Pour a little CRACKLIN' HEIGHTS Cinnamon Sugar onto a small plate. Run a lemon wedge around the rim of your glass, then gently dip the rim into the sugar to coat. No added salt is needed.
- Combine the mezcal or tequila, orange liqueur, apple cider, lime juice, and maple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Start with 1 teaspoon maple syrup and adjust to your taste.
- Add ice and shake until well chilled. Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish with apple slices, a cinnamon stick, and an optional rosemary sprig. Serve and enjoy.
Pro Tip: Coat just half the rim if you like a choice between a sweet, cinnamon-spiced sip and a plain one. For smoky flavor without lighting a garnish, choose mezcal.
